01

Scope and operator

This Privacy Policy applies to awanderingmind.life, A Wandering Mind articles, public resources, interactive tools, store features, and related pages that link to this policy (collectively, the “Service”). The Service is operated by Kestrel Ventures LLC, a Georgia limited liability company (“Kestrel Ventures,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

Separate websites, apps, or services—including Kestrel Exams properties and third-party platforms—may publish their own privacy policies. Their policies control their independent data practices.

02

Information you choose to provide

Depending on the feature you use, you may voluntarily provide information such as:

  • your name, email address, phone number, and message when using a contact or support form;
  • your email address and optional profile information when joining a newsletter;
  • billing, shipping, contact, and order details when purchasing a product or service;
  • information included in a comment, correction, accessibility report, copyright complaint, or other submission; and
  • calculator assumptions or result details when you deliberately print, share, or submit them.
Do not send sensitive records through ordinary forms.

Please do not submit Social Security numbers, financial-account credentials, full medical records, VA claim numbers, payment-card details, passwords, or other highly sensitive information through the general contact page or article forms.

03

Information processed automatically

A Wandering Mind is hosted on Squarespace. When a page loads, Squarespace and related infrastructure may process technical information needed to deliver, secure, and measure the site, including:

  • IP address and approximate location derived from it;
  • browser, operating system, device, language, and network information;
  • pages viewed, referring page, links used, timestamps, and general interaction data;
  • cookie or consent choices; and
  • diagnostic, security, fraud-prevention, and performance information.

We generally use this information in aggregated or operational form to understand site traffic, maintain security, troubleshoot errors, and improve usability. Hosting providers necessarily receive standard request information when they serve a webpage, even when you do not submit a form.

05

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files or identifiers stored by a browser. The Service may use cookies, local storage, pixels, scripts, or similar technologies for the following categories:

Necessary

Page delivery, security, checkout, form operation, fraud prevention, and consent recording.

Preferences

Language, display, calculator, and other settings remembered on the device.

Analytics

Aggregate traffic, referrers, page activity, performance, and feature usage.

Advertising and embeds

Ad delivery and measurement, consent, video or social embeds, and third-party content.

The exact technologies present can vary by page and by whether advertising, checkout, embedded media, or other optional services are loaded. Where a cookie or privacy message is displayed, use its controls to make the choices available in your region. Blocking all cookies may prevent some features from working.

06

Analytics

We use Squarespace’s built-in website analytics to understand aggregate traffic and site performance. Squarespace may provide information such as page views, visits, referral sources, broad geographic information, device categories, search terms used on the site, and interactions with site features.

Analytics help us identify broken pages, understand which resources are useful, improve mobile layouts, and evaluate site performance. We do not ask analytics services to receive the private income and expense values entered into browser-only calculator fields.

Browser privacy settings, cookie controls, content blockers, private browsing, and disabling optional analytics cookies where offered may reduce analytics collection. Necessary server logs may still be created to deliver and protect the site.

07

Advertising and consent

Some A Wandering Mind pages may display advertising through Google AdSense or another disclosed ad provider. Advertising providers may use cookies, IP addresses, browser or device information, ad identifiers, page context, approximate location, and interaction information to select, limit, secure, measure, and report advertisements. Depending on your settings, region, and the provider’s practices, ads may be contextual or personalized.

Google provides privacy and messaging tools that may display consent or opt-out choices for applicable regions. You can also use browser controls, device advertising settings, content blockers, and Google’s ad controls. Advertising providers process information under their own privacy policies.

Kestrel Ventures does not sell personal information for monetary payment. Where applicable law treats certain advertising disclosures as “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising, eligible visitors may have additional opt-out rights described in the Privacy rights section.

08

Purchases, checkout, and payments

When you purchase through the Service, Squarespace and applicable commerce, payment, tax, fulfillment, or shipping providers may process information needed to complete the transaction. This can include your name, email, phone number, billing and shipping addresses, order details, tax location, transaction status, and payment-related information.

Payment-card information is submitted to the payment processor through the checkout experience. Kestrel Ventures generally receives order and transaction records needed to fulfill the purchase, provide support, prevent fraud, maintain business records, and comply with tax or legal obligations, but does not need to store a complete payment-card number in its ordinary site records.

Checkout providers may offer saved payment methods, address completion, customer accounts, or accelerated checkout under their own terms and privacy policies. Product-specific privacy notices displayed during checkout should also be reviewed.

09

Newsletters, contact forms, and communications

Joining a newsletter is voluntary. A newsletter provider may process your email address, subscription status, consent record, and—where enabled—delivery, open, and link-interaction information. Every promotional email should provide an unsubscribe method. Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent transaction, support, legal, or security messages that are reasonably necessary.

Contact and support forms may send the information you enter to Squarespace and to the destination inbox or workflow configured for the form. We use submitted information to respond, investigate the issue, and maintain an appropriate record of the request.

Visiting the Service alone does not enroll you in a newsletter, create an A Wandering Mind account, or authorize promotional text messages.

10

External links, affiliate links, and embedded content

The Service links to government agencies, retailers, affiliate partners, social platforms, video hosts, maps, weather services, and other third parties. Once you follow an external link or load an embedded item, that third party may receive the destination request, IP address, browser or device information, referring page, cookies, account status, and information you submit to it.

Affiliate or referral links contain identifiers that allow the destination to recognize that a visit or qualifying action originated from A Wandering Mind. For example, Amazon may recognize that a customer followed a Special Link before making a qualifying purchase. We may receive a commission or aggregate referral report, but the third party controls its own account, checkout, and tracking practices.

The Amazon Marketplace Search tool builds an Amazon destination from the search terms entered in your browser. A Wandering Mind does not store those shopping searches as a user profile, but Amazon receives the search terms and referral information when the destination opens.

Embedded YouTube videos or similar media may place cookies or collect interaction information when loaded or played. Review the third party’s policy and use browser or consent controls where available.

11

Location-aware features

Weather, local-news, map, tax, or other location-aware features may use an IP-derived general location or request browser permission for more precise location information. A browser will normally ask before sharing precise coordinates. You can deny or later revoke that permission in browser or device settings.

When a location feature relies on an external provider, the provider may receive the location or search information needed to return the requested result. The feature may use a general fallback location or may not work when location access is denied.

12

How information is used

We use or direct our service providers to process information for purposes such as:

  • delivering, maintaining, securing, and troubleshooting the Service;
  • responding to messages, support requests, accessibility reports, and legal notices;
  • fulfilling purchases, sending transaction notices, and maintaining order records;
  • sending newsletters or promotions that you requested and managing unsubscribe choices;
  • measuring aggregate traffic, content usefulness, advertising performance, and site reliability;
  • detecting fraud, spam, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms;
  • complying with law, tax, accounting, recordkeeping, and dispute-resolution obligations; and
  • improving articles, tools, accessibility, design, and user experience.

We do not use private browser-only calculator values for advertising profiles unless a future feature clearly discloses a different practice before the information is transmitted.

13

How information is disclosed

Information may be disclosed in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: hosting, analytics, advertising, consent, email, commerce, payment, tax, shipping, security, and support providers process information to perform their services.
  • Your direction: when you submit a form, share a result, follow a link, play an embed, make a purchase, or otherwise request an interaction.
  • Legal and safety reasons: when reasonably necessary to comply with law, lawful process, protect rights or safety, investigate misuse, or defend legal claims.
  • Business transactions: information associated with the Service may be reviewed or transferred as part of a merger, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction, subject to appropriate protections and notice where required.
  • With consent: for another purpose that is clearly explained when consent is requested.

We may publish or share aggregated or de-identified information that does not reasonably identify an individual. Public comments or submissions, if a feature allows them, can be seen and copied by others; do not post information you want kept private.

14

Retention and deletion

We retain information for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, including responding to a request, fulfilling an order, maintaining subscription choices, protecting security, resolving disputes, and satisfying tax, accounting, contractual, or legal obligations. Retention periods vary by record type and service provider.

Newsletter, payment, commerce, advertising, hosting, and embedded-content providers maintain information under their own retention practices. Requests to delete information held by Kestrel Ventures can be made through the contact page. We may need to retain limited records when legally or operationally required.

Browser-only calculator and preference data must be removed on the device using the applicable clear or reset control, browser storage settings, or app uninstall process. We cannot delete information we never receive.

15

Your privacy choices

  • Cookie and advertising choices: use any consent message displayed on the Service, browser cookie controls, content blockers, and device advertising settings.
  • Email: use the unsubscribe link in a promotional message or contact us for assistance.
  • Location: deny or revoke browser or device location permission.
  • Local data: clear a tool’s saved data, clear browser storage, or uninstall the app.
  • External accounts: manage privacy, purchase, and deletion choices directly with the third-party service that holds the account.
  • Do Not Track: browser signals are not interpreted uniformly across the industry; we honor legally required consent or opt-out mechanisms where applicable.

Refusing optional cookies or permissions may reduce personalization or disable some advertising, embedded, location, or commerce functions, but core article access should remain available where technically possible.

16

Privacy rights

Depending on where you live and subject to legal exceptions, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, or information about processing; to withdraw consent; to object to or restrict certain processing; or to opt out of certain sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling.

Submit a request through the contact page and identify it as a privacy request. We may need information sufficient to verify the request and locate the relevant record. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

Some data is held only by a service provider or only on your device. If we cannot identify or access the information requested, we will explain that limitation and, when possible, direct you to the appropriate provider or device control. You may also have a right to appeal a denied request or complain to a privacy regulator.

17

Children’s privacy

The Service is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 through the general site. A parent or guardian who believes a child submitted personal information can contact us so we can review and, when appropriate, delete it.

Third-party websites, stores, videos, and platforms linked from the Service set their own age requirements and privacy practices. Parents and guardians should review those services before allowing a child to use them.

18

Security and international processing

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the information and the services involved. The Service uses third-party hosting and processing systems with their own security controls. No website, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Kestrel Ventures and its service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. Privacy laws can differ from those in your location. Where legally required, providers may use contractual or other transfer safeguards.

Protect your own device, browser, email account, and third-party checkout or platform credentials. Notify the relevant provider promptly if you believe an account or transaction has been compromised.

19

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the Service, providers, laws, or data practices change. The “Last updated” date at the top identifies the current version. For a material change, we may also provide a notice on the site or through another reasonable channel before or when the update takes effect.

Review this page periodically, especially before using a newly introduced account, payment, advertising, location, or synchronization feature.

20

Contact and privacy requests

Questions, privacy requests, or concerns about this policy can be sent through the A Wandering Mind contact page.
