A Lesson in Imagery - How do you paint an image with words?

“A wandering Mind V” available on OpenSea, Rarible, and Coinbase NFT.

Ever struggled to get you thoughts into words?

Have you ever struggled to describe something in detail while writing?

Do you have difficulties painting a picture with your words?

Are you working on getting better at building and developing your characters?

Look at the image above and read this:

A MidJourney AI generated, selective color portrait of a woman with a disembodied head. It’s mostly black and white, but she has blue eyes and dark hair. Black tears run down her face as she expresses signs of mental illness. She seems to be suffering from depression and is perhaps experiencing disassociation. Her eyes look beautiful, yet empty. Does she have a soul? Or, has it been eaten away by the hardship she has endured? We see signs of psychological trauma written on her face. Her lips are blackened. Her nose is narrow. Her eyes are the shapes of almonds. She appears to be holding her head with her fingers running through her dark hair, but she has no body. Where do the hands come from?"

Notice how what started as a description of her physical appearance evolved into a description of her mental state.

Try this:

First, Create a mental image - could be completely made up or something that exists.

Next, Describe the image.

As you describe the image, you’ll start getting ideas on how to further develop your character. The only thing to do now is write it all down.

If you found this helpful, leave a comment bellow and share with other writers, artists, musicians, and even you accountant. The principle works with just about anything you will try to do.

Thank you for you time.

Wish you the best in all your endeavors.

Also I recommend reading “Blue Collar to No Collar” by Wayne Stinnett. He is a Best Selling author known for the Jesse McDermitt novels. To be brief, the book highlights how he came to realize what steps he needed to take to tell a story and eventually self-publish a book.
